NY winter. Winter in NY only lasts three months, and you cans till gooutside to do things. Summer in Florida is unbearable for six months.

FL summer (though I'm considering relocating from south Florida to Tampa as the summer nights are more tolerable).

Florida has excellent weather from mid-Oct thru May. June heat is not too bad but it can rain every day almost nonstop. The most oppressive months here are July Aug & Sept (and the first two weeks of October). So we spend a lot of time then in our a/c'd houses, our a/c'd cars and our swimming pools.

Walking around for most of the year in shorts and a t-shirt? Priceless.

NY winters-I don't need temperatures in the 80s and 90s for nine months a year. And I don't need to look at unattractive people wearing shorts and sandals year round.

Florida summers - hands down.

Winter in New York only lasts for 3 months??? As if. It's freezing cold from November to April, and Mays are rainy and cold as well. Lived in New York for 17 years.

Absolutely, NY winters. I also second the previous comment about unattractive people wearing shorts and sandals. If you think anything under 70 degrees is "winter", then yeah, it's winter in NY 9 months out of the year. I lived in NY for 58 years.

Tanaples, I have to disagree. I have lived in Buffalo my whole life. November averages 35-45 degrees. Spring usually gets here in May. Where are you seeing 70 before then?

The weather in Buffalo is nothing like Long Island. But, I did say UNDER 70 degrees. Some people think winter is anything under that, so 40s and 50s would still be "winter" to them.

BTW, it's a "freezing" 64 and CLOUDY today in Naples. I'll take this. They are few and far between.

I prefer winter in the NYC area over hot Florida summers. I guess to each their own.

I'll have to disagree. In Orlando, the weather turns hot during May and stays hot until the end of October. I've seen lots of years when you get to 90 in April and in November. So in my opinion, the weather in Orlando is tolerable from early November until early May. The humidity of course is another thing. That being said, I would rather have the NY winters than the Florida summers. I've just never adjusted to the extreme heat/humidity/intense sun even after 30 years.
