Sorry, if your warm weather business is hurting because of the weather, but it seems retail is booming. Probably the restaurant business is doing well too, if everyone is out shopping already.
Can't wait till they all go back.

The problem is we're in an El Nino weather pattern. The winter down here is similar to what happened in the early 80's when I'd come spend the winter at my parents home. Back home in New England, on Cape Cod to be precise, the following summer, we had 13 out of 16 weekends be total rain outs and we depend on the summer tourists to make our economy run. I was in hair school at the time and I can remember spending many weekends in July and August wearing turtlenecks!

As crappy as this winter has been down here and as badly as we'd all like the warmth to return soonest, I think we can all agree, we sure don't want any hurricanes next summer in Florida!

el nino years are known to cause FL to have very dry springs and summers, causing the wildfire threat to go way up. Doesn't any one remember the wildfires of 1998? That was an el nino year like this one.

Don't know about the rest of Florida, but in Naples it's been raining a LOT this winter. This isn't like the summer rainy season with heavy downpours for short time, but for long periods and sometimes drippy all day. It's almost like the rain up North. They are getting a lot of snow this year. We are getting a lot of rain.

I don't have a warm weather business to hurt. Thousands more do though. Snowbirds in the malls buying made in China will not replace the jobs lost, the crops lost, etc. People seem to put their personal comfort ahead of what is good for their neighbor. Didn't used to be that way. If it were to come a hard freeze in New England just as the grapes had set and the years wine crop were to be lost them maybe some could grasp the seriousness of what has been lost.

It's been a miserable winter in Florida this year, especially South Florida. I'll be glad when the weather gets back to normal there.

Chris, all kidding aside, I can understand how you feel. I really believe that sometimes one's perception of whether a place is desirable or not can be directly influenced by the work they do. Being outside in extreme weather - whether bitterly cold and snowy or hot, sticky, and humid - can be unbearable for the majority of people, I think.

This winter is the best I can remember. I only wish the Earth's axis would tilt a tad and make it permanent. Sweet, sweet relief! Every cold, dry day means one less hot, humid day and lower electric bills as a bonus. Booyah!

Sounds like you are not compatible with FLORIDA state. Perhaps Georgia or Alabama would be more suitable for you?
