Left FL (St. Lucie) and no longer need a shrink....lol. So, I am halfway "sane" again??? lol
Seriously, I found out, it's all up to you, and what you make out of it, what expectations you have and what you want out of life.......and it helps, to find the right place to be....to live. It helps TREMENDOUSLY.
I was under constant stress when I lived in FL, because after the hurricanes, we had serious financial issues. Everything went up, but our wages stayed the same....yes, that is pure STRESS for the excistence of your family.
We got out, and we feel way better now.....
To each their own.......

I don't understand why anyone would stay living somewhere that effects them that much...I don't think I would have needed a shrink to tell me that.

I used to live near my VERY toxic family in Texas...I moved here to Florida to get away from them and life has been pretty fabulous ever since.

i guess the grass is always greener, huh? move from fla make more money, be more happy, i dont buy it. if you dont like it here, then move. my wife and i are fortunate enough to make enough money so that we dont feel "squeezed out." we make a lot more money here than we did in nc. sorry to you "fla bashers" out there. dont blame a state. moving to ga or nc isnt going to solve all problems. with everybody moving there, here comes more crime and traffic, and a high cost of living. consider w va, be isolated from all problems and everybody, buy that house for 75k that will still be worth 75k in 10 yrs. i am tired of all the negativity and bashing.

We just want a change from the norm here. It's like an adventure. If it works out in our new home then great, if not at least we tried. I believe it is what you make of it. It's all in attitude. Is the glass half full or half empty? There is no where that is perfect all the time. You know, the only thing I am worried about is steamed crabs! Where can you get real Maryland style steamed crabs in FL? Everything else is just life stuff. FL has redtide, Maryland has ecoli. Both are nasty and unhealthy, but it happens. Fl has hurricanes, it always has and always will and that is the risk we knowingly take when we move. At least they don't have blizzards. Everyone is not really happy about the school systems & to be honest the school system sucks here too. Which one is worse? Only time will tell.

Sure, life is what you make of it. Please post your results here after two years in Florida. I'd love to know what you "make of it."

Default Can't get out

When I moved to this gawd forsaken place in 87, I put my house up for sale
6 months later, I couldn't even get what I paid for it, because the builders
were building brand new homes for less. There are many people who are on fixed incomes and the COLA doesn't go up that fast. My pension is frozen
no increases............so what are we to do? I will try again this year to sell my home........I've replaced everything in the house, because nothing lasts in this gawd awful heat and will attempt to leave this gawd awful state and never look back. For those of you who love it, be well, be happy this place is not a utopia and there are more people leaving than staying. I hope to be one of them that leaves
