Hey folks, I usually go down to Ft Lauderdale every year in April for my Bday. I was thinking about going to the keys this year for a change of pace, but some folks tell me its not as much fun as Ft Lauderdale and there beaches are not as nice. I am a single straight male if that matters.

Also how do the west coast beaches or towns compare to Ft Lauderdale?

Should I try something different or just stick with Ft Lauderdale, which I really love.

Try something different, you can always go back to FLL next year. Key West is a lot of fun IMO. Yes the beaches are not the same, the Keys don't have many beaches actually. The beaches you see at the hotels in the keys are man made, sand hauled in usually. So if you are beach person that wants to layout, then you may be disappointed a little in Key West beaches, but there are so many fun things to do down there.

The Panhandle areas like Destin have the prettiest beaches in my opinion, but the night life and entertainment probably will not be to your style if you love FLL. There is Palm Beach just north of FLL, has a pretty good nightlife beautiful beaches too.

Key West is a great place to go. Don't even think twice about it. Book your ticket, pack your bags and have a great time!

I am in the military so I can stay on the Fly Navy Base for 60 a night which is a walk to Duval Street, think, I will stay for a few days and then head up to Ft Lauderdale
