Hi I would like some real help
I am living in the uk and myself and family are thinking about moving over to Florida ( Davenport area) But set place yet so any area would suit.
Selling up here and buying a house.
I have a young boy 8 years old so good schools is a must.
Low crime a must
The wife is a nurse so a hospital near by would be good as she dont like driving.....

We are looking on coming over with a nurse agency so she will have a work visa.
I am tellecommunications trained so work in the area for me would be nice but I dont mind a bit of a drive.
We have looked on loads of sites with diffrent out comes like its great come over and live the dream.... But others say stay clear and stay in the uk.

HELP please.

Florida is not a homogenous cultural or economic mass, despite what you have read on this board.

What else are you looking for? Do you want to be in a bigger city, or a smaller town? Live in the country?

Without knowing more it is hard to say where you would like it best, but one piece of advice I would give you is look at the WHOLE STATE. Don't get suckered into the idea that you have to be in Miami or Tampa or Orlando. You don't, unless you can't get a job anywhere else.

Consider checking out places farther away from the urban centers...north Florida, the Panhandle, etc....

Looking for an area that is a short drive or a walk for the wife to go shopping.

As for town or quiet life I think a smaller town.

I have looked at davenport and the sites say the schools are not that good.

Would like an area that is not full of holiday homes as would like to get to know the people in the area and so my son has friends that will not leave in a few weeks.
Some where we can call home.
But work has to play a big part of the area....

Does Jacksonville, the most dangerous and probably most corrupt city (tie with Miami) in the state, not count as an urban center because it's in North Florida?
