Have a family issue where a relative is worried about non citizens living next to her in Jacksonville having handguns.

My question is can Non US Citizens get hand gun licenses in Florida, and or are they allowed to carry (Non Hunting) Firearms?.

I am aware from research that some States do not allow non citizens to carry or be licensed to carry weapons.

Thanks in Advance for Help!

In Florida someone with a green card can purchase a firearm and get a CWP. Here is the link to Florida Department of Agriculture (the agency that issues CWP's) click on eligibility for the requirements.

Concealed Weapons or Firearm Program - Division of Licensing, FDACS

Unless you are serving overseas in the United States Armed Forces, you must currently reside in the United States (US) AND be a US citizen or deemed a lawful permanent resident alien by Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). If you are serving overseas in the US Armed Forces, submit a copy of your deployment documentation with your application. If you are not a US citizen, submit documentation issued by the USCIS proving you are a permanent legal resident alien with proof you have resided in the state of residence (as shown on your application) for at least 90 consecutive days prior to the date the application is submitted.

That says if they are either a resident or have a green card. What about non citizens folks that only have a working visa or what not?

If they are illegal, I don't believe they can legally acquire or posses a handgun or rifle.

Florida does not have gun licenses.

I'm speaking of concealed permits. And of course if they are illegal "Then they are here illegally" so they can't even be in the States.

I'm asking can someone who is no a Citizen that is here in the US legally own or possess a handgun, or concealed weapons permit?

If that is true it's no wonder why crime and terrorists have it so easy in the US

I do know the answer you are searching but you should find out by inquiring through your local Police office.

I was a resident of Pa. for a long time and using the laws pertaining gun permits in that state the criminals still target and shoot the Philly Police. Uniform officers travel in pairs.

Automatic weapons should be standard issue or the Police Officers. Oh, and double their salary too.

The police department has nothing to do with concealed carry permits.

A permit is available to a resident of the US as long as they are a citizen or permanent resident alien (as determined by the US government.)

You do not have to be a resident of Florida to get a Florida CCW.

You do not have to be a citizen to legally own a gun.

Tourists from other countries. Any citizen of the US can get a Florida CCW. Residence in Florida has nothing to do with it.
