Hello, I am relocating to Gainesville in a few weeks. I visited in January and looked at neighborhoods around the Buchholz/FT Clark area. Although I was greatly impressed by what I saw, the area was a little pricey. I previous bought in a overpriced area due to the "excellent schools" and had regrets.

I researched Gainesville HS and found that they have program for high achieving students (my child is academically gifted) but I am not sure about the neighborhood or the rest of the school.

Does Gainesville HS match up to Buchholz? I would not want my childs college prospects diminished because they attended a school that was not highly regarded, but at the same time I dont want to spend excess money on a house when it is not necessary.

Gainesville HS would be a distant third compared to Buchholz and Eastside based on everyone we've spoke with. We just recently bought a house in the Buchholz district and wanted to avoid Gainesville. Buchholz is ranked 112 and Eastside is in the top 50 in the US. Eastside has IB which skews the ranking though. Buchholz is known as the all around good school.

Default Gainesville High vs Buchholz

Thanks for the info. After doing more research, I think you are correct that Buchholz is the best overall.

Yes, Buchholz is the better school. However, for a gifted child, I'd consider the IB program at Eastside.
