24 year old college grad with a music teaching degree in vocal music looking for a position in Florida.. does Florida need teachers and if there is anyone that can be of help finding a position for me please let me know. I have experience at 2 different schools here in Michigan, although non tenure, and am willing to start for the 2010-2011 school year.

Music, PE , Media, and Art positions are being eliminated here in FL. In some cases they are being asked to work half time.

I can tell you this, its not going to be a pretty year for things like music, art, PE, etc. Broward County is cutting most of theses jobs to part time/half the pay or even getting rid totally. Best of Luck!

Broward is the only county I know of making these cuts at this point, but the education budget crisis in FL is severe and positions are actually being cut. In order to keep with the class size amendment law some other counties may begin also cutting these special area positions. Big mistake in my opinion, but its what they are discussing in some areas. It doesn't look good in FL for too many teachers without tenure right now.
