And they got Gulf Coast triathlon on just fine yesterday. If there had been oil anywhere close to PCB, they would have cancelled the swim leg, and they definitely didn't.

Water is already black in Pensacaola? Huh,who told you that.Everything I have READ and heard is that there are ABSOLUTELY no traces on any beaches in Fla.I have a trip planned for June, and it looks like they're making some good progress in containing the oil.I am keeping my plans, anyone else?

If you aren't familiar with the local waterways, there are some inlets and dune lakes that always seem to have a bunch of tanins that always leave the water rather tea-colored or are naturally rather muddy.

World of difference there.

Especially since all of the oak and hickory trees are shedding their catkins right now, a handfull of those things will turn a 5gal bucket of water brown overnight.

Well, this is terrible. I hate BP... I think they should go bankrupt! It's just a bad example of people waiting until their pants are caught down to REALLY have a diaster plan!!!!!!!!!! People are losing their way to make a living and will have to uproot their families to survive! Not to mention the people that were killed in the explosion and are gone forever! Who cares about saving their precious oil and refiltering it.... burn the crap!!! NOW!

And if BP (or TransOcean) goes bankrupt won't those people lose their way to make a living? Won't they also have to uproot their families? Either way you look at it someone will be affected. At least right now BP is offering to pay the fisherman to use their boats in the cleanup efforts. The local fisherman and shrimpers around here have been struggling already, so it's possible they could actually make more money during the cleanup.

My dh has a business trip June 21-25 to Eglin. We are planning on tagging a long because the room and travel to and from will be paid for. We just plan on getting a hotel with a nice pool. If the beach is messed up ds and I will spend our days at the pool. We have a vacation planned in July in Panama City. Gonna wait and see on that one. Because I really want to go to the beach. I'm not canceling yet.

Default We will be there next week and can't wait!

This vacation is a first for my family in a long time. We have 2 grown children and a grandson and for everyone to get off work at the same time is a challenge. We will go to Destin and have fun regardless. We love the area and raised our children on those beaches for vacations. I hope the oil stays away but I for one will be there and so far I haven't seen any need to panic!
I just feel for all of those who will lose so much. Not just a vacation.
