The Heat Index today was 96. 88 degrees and 80% humidity, oh I didn't want to be outside to long today.

We'll be heading North this Friday, and be back the first week of Nov.
Try and stay cool folks.

If there's anything to be said about Florida summers (at least here in Vero Beach) it's that it pretty much holds... high of 93, haven't seen anything higher in the five years I've been here. Try driving north to JAX... it gets hotter!

I was born and raised in Naples and currently reside there. Lived in Tampa for 3 1/2 years in late 80's. This heat is too much for me and always has been. My husband and I are always looking to relocate-but thus far family keeps us here for the sake of our kids. I was in my glory this winter. We were all loving it. THough many co-workers were complaining that it was too cold. Funny tho- many are now complaining that it is too hot. I worked in the yard yesterday for 2 hours and came in looking a bright reddish/purple shade because I was soooooo hot. The one positive about summer at least is that the snowbirds go away and we get a more pleasant pace of life here.

It could be that you are allergic to pollen. I knew I was allergic to pretty much anything but never have gotten really sick until this year. I even developed bronchitis. I recommend that you stay inside until the pollen count drops.

I never feel trapped by the heat. Then again I live in NE Ohio, so while you folks down there don't like the extreme heat, it's the other way around for us with the extreme cold, snow, and endless gray skies in the Winter. I personally love it when it gets into the upper 80's and low 90's as that is what Summer should be. HOT! It means more time at the pool! We get a lot of 80+ days up here in the Summer, but it doesn't hit 90 too often. We really only get a handful of 90 degree days. Nothing like going for an evening swim on those days where the sun is setting and it's still like 85 degrees and you don't even get a chill getting out of the water. Or sitting on the porch shirtless at 11 at night and it's STILL in the 80s! I'd take your May through November Summer any day over our 8 month of Winter up here. I will say though we've had one heck of a nice Spring this year. April in Cleveland was the warmest ever, and we had several 80 degree days. Too bad it isn't the norm, but I'll take it. Unfortunately this weekend we're only going to be in the low 50s for highs, and 40s for lows before getting back into the 60s for highs next week. Yuck!

For the record I've been to Florida in the Summer, and yeah it's hot, but it wasn't that hard for me to find ways to cool off. I did try playing basketball in the middle of the afternoon, and that was a little brutal, but hey, it's still better than bone chilling cold.

It was mid 80's here in Asheville, but it cooled down a bit to probably mid 60's tonight. It got hot today, but it's not like that humid air that makes you sweaty sticky. Much drier, and didnt really feel all that hot.
