Honestly I think the show would be fine without the "challenge" at the end.
I just don't find it amusing or interesting. The rest of the show is great though.
Since the late nineties there have been dozens of shows on the food network in which people dine out. Man vs Food is the Travel Channel's highest rated show, the challenge works...

I do get a kick out of some of the challenges, though. I understand some of the pc talk about being a fat, overfed nation but would you walk out if you were in a place where one of these challenges took place?
Yep. I don't need or want a sideshow when I'm out for a meal.
I can (but usually don't) eat insane amounts and actually considered seriously going on a show like this, I would take some beating. If there is a show like this downunder I would be interested in hearing about it.
