Hmm, I wouldn't judge them them but what you had at school lunch.

I'm guessing you are meaning something else here now. I read finger steaks and thought steak fingers.

Moving right along here.

Jufbro, most of us can't judge them at all if you're not going to describe what exactly they are and how they're made!

I'm also guessing these are deep-fried strips of steak similar to chicken fried steak until you tell me differently.

Are they the same as steak fingers? Strips of steak (like cube steak) battered and fried, like chicken fried steak, but smaller?

Ahhh right, good point.

Milo's Torch Cafe Original Idaho Finger Steaks Recipe - Allrecipes.com

The myth is they were invented at the torch, which funnily enough is a nudi-bar. But now they're served all over town. There was an article in the paper a while ago about the origin. Apperently the chef was tired of throwing away the sirloin tips.

This is supposedly the original recipe from Chef Milo, from back in the fourties. They say the Torch still makes the best, I've never had theirs, but think Big Bun Drive-in has the best I've had.

I'd eat it. They might be good dipped in ranch dressing mixed with a bit of steak sauce. Hmmm.

The ones we had in school lunches weren't so bad.

We dipped them in ketchup and/or mustard or steak sauce. I believe (actually pretty certain) that they were baked and didn't contain as many ingredients as the recipe listed. I'm certain it was just steak, a little seasoning, and the breading (much like school lunch fish sticks!).

Ground beef with some spices, shaped like fish sticks, batter dipped, fried then frozen and shipped then baked.

Yes, had them. Don't need 'em.

More for you guys.

Old thread, but, yes, I have eaten my fair share. And love them! Been a while since I made them. Must be served with cocktail sauce and "fry sauce". Ketchup, mayo, horseradish, and some seasonings.
