You bet! Thanks for asking. I'm a freelance kind of cook, so I can tell you basics but not exact amounts--not being coy, but I made it up and it's a little of this, a little of that.
Patti's Spicy Winter Turkey Chili Recipe
1/2 pound ground turkey (or ground or stew beef or ground chicken or omit altogether for a vegetarian chili)
one medium onion, minced
one medium green pepper, minced
one medium red pepper, minced (if affordable, otherwise omit)
one can, 14 oz diced tomatoes with green chilis
1/4 cup Dijon mustard (or spicy brown or 1-2 T. powdered dry mustard)
1/2 cup ketchup
2 T molasses or brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 T chili powder, mild, or use paprika instead
1-2 t cumin (if you like it)
a couple of good shakes of oregano and Italian seasonings
1 t garlic powder or 3 cloves minced fresh garlic
1/2 cup quick barley
1 can navy beans, drained and rinsed
I can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
Sautee the turkey, the onion, the peppers together until soft.
Add everything else and stir well
Add 1.5 cups water, stir
Bring to boil, then lower heat to simmer and cover
Simmer for 1 hour
This will serve two people about four meals. Good with salad of your choice or garlic bread with sun-dried tomatoes.
Very hearty and nutritious. Spicy, has a kick!
PS Sounds like a lot of work but it really goes together fast once you have the ingredients ready to go...and it's a one-dish meal, which is nice, yes?
Breakfast for dinner tonight........biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs with cheese and basil, hash browns, sausage and bacon.
Dont know why I dont do that more often!
Baked chicken breast, steamed veggies and a parmesan and olive angel hair pasta
