Is there a difference between seltzer and club soda? I've tried seltzer, and didn't like it. I guess they used baking soda to carbonate it, and I could taste it throughout.

There are no dumb questions.

Seltzer is basicly water with carbon dioxide added where Club soda has potassium bicarbonate and potassium sulfate added which dulls the fizz associated with straight up carbon dioxide.

Also falling under the seltzer catagory would be sparkling mineral water and carbonated water.

Tonic water is a whole different bird.. having Quinine and cabon dioxide added originally made to help treat or prevent malaria.
