Well, my favorite Ice Cream when I was growing up was Thrifty's. Now that the Thrifty chain has been bought out by Rite Aid, that's where I have to go to get Thrifty Ice Cream. Not all Rite Aids have it, though, so it's not always easy to find. I think I liked the fact that I could get a triple cone there for the price of a single at Baskin Robbins.
On a side note, I tried the frozen custard at Good Times last week for the first time (at least that I can remember), and it was quite good, too. It's more like soft serve ice cream, which I also like.
Anyone know what ever happened to Penguin's frozen yogurt? They used to be popular, then just seem to have disappeared! That used to be another choice back in those days.
I completely agree with you about the Thrifty ice cream at Rite Aid. When I was in junior high school, my friends and I would walk by the Thrifty nearby and get an ice cream cone.
I remember Penguin's Frozen Yogurt, too. They seem to have disappeared, at least here in the L.A. area. The one that used to be located near my house is now a Dairy Queen.
I like Baskin-Robbins over Cold Stone. However, once in a great while I will go to Cold Stone just for something different. As others have already mentioned, Cold Stone is quite overpriced. At Baskin-Robbins, I like the pralines and cream, pink bubble gum (if it's available) and New York cheesecake.
