Sprouts and Whole Foods tend to be pretty close price-wise on the "healthy"/organic frozen brands but when one has a sale...it can be really great. Even then if you're a fan of Kashi or Amy's frozen foods, it's worth checking your local Super Target first since it's practically a guarantee that if they have that particular item, it will be cheaper.

Central Market also carries some of those items but they usually have a limited selection and the prices are OK...not great.

If you're after frozen broccoli or frozen blueberries, get thee to Wal-Mart or a regular supermarket with a Bird's Eye, Green Giant, or Pictsweet coupon.
I have a wonderful Super Target near me that carries those, plus lots of organic/natural stuff at a great price.

I have only been to Whole Foods a couple times, but thought it was very expensive for the type of foods I buy, saw some things that were priced way higher than our most expensive regular supermarket. Just not worth it for me to shop there.

I totally agree!

I travel a lot for work and one of the first things I do when I land is find the nearest Whole Foods. I stock up on fruit for the week and will usually hit the salad bar several times/week for lunch if close enough. Otherwise, I'll make one or two and keep it at the hotel. So many options!!

When home, I'll stock up on nuts, grains, flours, etc as I am a vegetarian and they have higher quality organic products.

I also buy most of my toiletry-type stuff (soap, shampoo, toothpaste) at Whole Foods as well. The prices aren't terrible and they are cruelty free.

My local Super Target has a very limited selection of the "natural" frozen food brands that I like. Very limited.

Oh and another thing I left off the list: BULK BINS! Sprouts almost always has lower prices on bulk items but Whole Foods carries some things that Sprouts doesn't have.

The meats! Their chicken tastes like chicken, not some weird mutation with a rubbery/slimy texture. They have grass-fed Beef, and even Bison which is lean and tastes great. The Pork Chops are the best I've had (bone-in thick cut, on the grill!). Their produce is usually locally sourced (in-season) and as a result packed with more nutrients since it wasn't picked a couple of weeks earlier and trucked in from god-knows-where, not to mention an amazing variety. Of course as others point out, you can go cheap and buy the crap offered at the big chains, but you get what you pay for. IMO, the small difference is worth the health benefits and support of smaller American farmers.

I'm speaking in terms of trying something new.

Sure if I want bread I should just buy bread.

But potato pancakes? dont think i've had that before.

My favorite thing to buy at Whole Foods is the feta pecan fresh packed salad. The balsamic dressing is out of this world!

I also like to buy fish and meat there, especially when I'm buying it to make baby food for my son. Partly because of the quality and partly because I can just buy the portion I need - ie if I only need 2 chicken thighs.

I've also found some of their spices are a lot cheaper than elsewhere.

I love the pate and they even let you taste it before you buy. The one with truffles was wonderful. I also love the brownies with nuts in the bakery dept and the cream top milk. The seasoned lamb burgers were also very good.
