Starbucks is not a fad. It was pretty much the catylist for our current coffee culture in this country, which I think is here to stay. There are plenty of coffee shops filled with people in there 20's around me, although I live in an urban center. However, even the very blue-collar town I grew up in has a trendy-ish coffee shop.
As far as energy drinks go, I think most of the time when I see people drink them it's either to get amped up for a night of partying or to get over a hangover. And yes, it's usually people in their 20's. I also see teens drink the stuff, but I bet most of them drink it because it's the thing to do these days.
I'm just beyond my 20's and I need my morning coffee to function. This is a habit I picked up in my mid-twenties. Getting my day started with an energy drink is not something that appeals to me at all.
I saw this coffee in Whole Foods, they have the same coffee, but without the "special" processing. They say they have been able to process it without using cats. Personally, I would not drink it, because I don't have the money. But if someone bought me a cup, why not?
I'd refuse to eat "the world's most expensive" anything, just on the principle of frugality. Just as I'd refuse to sleep in the world's most expensive hotel room, or wear the world's most expensive pair of shoes.
Are you sure that no wild animal has ever peed on anything that you've ever eaten? Do you think that no bird has ever pooped on an orange that went into your frozen concentrated orange juice? What do you think sausage casings are?
