I bought some the other day. It doesn't look too appetizing but I'm not askerred. I just need some suggestions on what to do with it.

Thanks in advance.

It's a soybean deal. Short version -Soak the beans, mash them up, add vinegar and ferment. Similar to tofu.

I make a veggie-Reuben.

Sautee sliced tempeh in a bit of water and tamari.

Toast dark rye (or pumpernickel)bread.

Assemble your tempeh as a sandwich with saurkraut, spicy mustard and dill relish. It's oddly addictive. I actually crave this from time to time.

I love tempeh.

This is how I prepare it most often.

It's easiest done in a wok, but a large will work okay, too.

1 med. onion - sliced
oil
tamari soy sauce
tempeh cut into small cubes

Saute sliced onions until they are wilted. Then toss in the tempeh and fry quickly. Add several tablespoons of tamari. Stir fry until tempeh and onions are heated through and well coated with tamari. There should be enough tamari to make the tempeh a very dark brown.

You can eat it hot or at room temperature.

LOL! Greatness.

Thanks for the suggestions. Doesn't look like a popular item on the grocery list.

I bought two bricks so I'll try what I've read here and maybe get creative with some mushrooms, garlic, onions and olive oil.
