Which is why I eat humanely reared meat, free range eggs and chicken ( direct from a local farmer if at all possible or a specialist butcher). And patronise restaurants who pride themselves on high standards when it comes to those things too.

Nothing wrong with eating meat IMO as long as you are careful about the animal husbandy involved and the way the animal lives ( and dies).

I prefer to eat meat less often but of better quality and where I know the provenance. Good meat costs more and it should. Some people prefer to eat cheap meat every day. I prefer to eat more expensive, humanely reared meat once in a while. Nobody needs to have meat on a daily basis.

all the animals go to the same slaughterhouses. eating organically raised animals is not in any way more humane.

I buy all my beautiful, x-large brown eggs from a chicken rancher down the street, but I've never been beyond his sales room to see how the girls live.

hopefully much better than this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stxtKqsF6tA

the vast majority of eggs (98%) are produced in factory farms where the new born male chicks are fed live into wood shredders because they have no commercial value.

this is why the big AG companies are attempting to make it illegal to videotape in slaughterhouses & other animal product factories so consumers are unaware of the abuse and suffering that they are supporting with their purchases.

I don't know about that since I see no double standard all the time. Sure, some folk's just love their dogs/cats and consider them as part of the family. But some folk's don't treating their dogs/cats no better then animals in the video.

Bottom line is.........
Humans can be sweet ,or they can be vile, sometimes both at the same time.
