I love it. I use it a lot in my Asian and Latin cooking. For those that have the soap gene to cilantro, try finding the herb, Culantro. It tastes very similar but does not trigger the soap gene. That's actually what I am used to using growing up. Up here in NC, I can't find it so I use cilantro.

The culantro looks like dandelion greens.

Oh, I love fresh cilantro. I don't remember where I first encountered it -- my Mom didn't cook with many fresh herbs growing up, but I discovered it somewhere along the way.

I agree with chiroptera that cooking cilantro does it no favors, so I mostly save it for the end of cooking. I use it in pretty much all Latin-inspired dishes, Asian cooking, and find it quite good in salads with a spicy lime vinaigrette.

HATE HATE HATE it. To me (& husband, too), it tastes like dish washing liquid. Nasty. The FB page "I Hate Cilantro" is hilarious. So many names for the "c-word", from "leaves of death" to the "devil's droppings". Vile excuse for an herb. Did I mention that I can't stand it? Gag!!!

Thirty years ago I got proper introduced to Cilantro in East Indian cooking ...in my case Punjabi cooking .We use it pretty much daily and in summer we plant it fresh. The younger the leaves are the more flavorful and tasty they are. The aroma is outstanding and does finish the taste on a curry dish or an Indian lentil soup.I love it also in meatballs. We always have fresh cilantro but in winter sometimes I do buy a few bunches and wash/dry/freeze them for later use.

I grow a bunch, rinse well and rough chop. I then pack it into a silicon ice tray I have. Pop them out and put them in a large freezer bag. That way I have it all winter. It isn't the same as fresh but you get that bright green flavor still. I have to remember and get some culantro seeds and do the same. I finally found a source for the seeds online. Along with real thyme from Jamaica!

Do you like cilantro? No
Does it taste like soap to you?Yes!
What is your favorite way to use it. I don't.
Did you grow up with cilantro and discover it as an adult? Discovered it as an adult. I want to like it, I really do. But I just can't stand the taste. I end up replacing it with parsley or fresh oregano if I want a fresh green herb in a dish.

I do not remember eating it as a kid. I was exposed to it as an adult and at first I did not like it...at that time I was a smoker. I know like it....I also no longer smoke.

I don't like it very much, it does taste a bit soapy. However, I will eat salsa and other dishes prepared with it, sprinkle a little on street tacos, etc.

The people that rhapsodize over it must feel about cilantro the way I feel about fresh basil, and to a lesser degree, italian parsley.
