I rue the day (not) I ever tried mozzarella di bufala, mainly because the rubbery, tasteless regular stuff is almost inedible to me now. Same thing goes for freshly ground, quality coffee beans... Folgers just ain't the same.

I really need to stop expanding my horizons. It's expensive.

LOL. I adore that mozzarella too. Especially with basil from my garden.

You are now making me hungry for the stuff ! Stop it thi instant Debsi ... I think sometimes there is nothing better than some Mozzarella Di Bufala , some ripe tomatoes, a little basil, a little drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, a little rock salt ....and maybe if I am greedy some walnut or sundried tomato bread. I can almost taste it...

I must admit I prefer to go without than have the really bland rubbish they often pass as mozzarella. There is one you can get in the Uk you could kill someone with, it is so hard ( as well as chewy and tasteless). And don't get me started on the garbage they put on Pizza in some places... I can feel my Italian Grand-Father turning in his grave !

The idea that something is "frou-frou" because it basically has a foreign name or is not familiar to someone is beyond me. Some people really do need to widen their horizons and get a little more experience of what they talk about.

Zimmern's show is centered around "bizarre" foods. I don't generally eat things for their shock value, but I do agree that Zimmern's on-air personality seems to be much more compatible with me.

Bourdain's show is more interesting and less centered around the shock value of what he eats and more on the general culture, gastronomic and otherwise, of the people he is with. However, he seems to get drunk way too often.

Interesting, no I have not read his book. But the snobbery just drips off him when you watch him on the telly.

In some countries farting is considered a supreme compliment to the cook and host.

I am sure Bourdain has never farted......he silently and odorlessly passes wha-hind.

No dear, that would be burping, which is an outmoded custom which signifies appreciation for the meal in certain Asian countries.
However, the news that you might get the 2 orifices confused shocks me not in the slightest.

No, farting is a great complement.....uh, in that country where Borat came from.

And the snarkiness from you.......really are upper crust.......would do well eating with Bourdain.
