Do you use agave? Dr. Joseph Mercola says it's mostly fructose which leads to body fat and other adverse effects. I have one and a half bottles in my pantry. I use it on oatmeal and tea. Ugh.
Yes, lately I've heard some noise that agave is "bad".
Ultimately what I am starting to believe is nothing is really bad, just that anything should be consumed in moderation and a diet should have some variety in it for your best health.
Yes Agave Nectar bad for you. So is breathing air. It is an artificial sweetener with a higher concentration of fructose than High fructose corn syrup.
I would not use it. Its one of those deceivingly Organic good for you POS products.
Dr. Mercola is an online "personality" and as such, his "qualifications" are suspect at best, full-blown quackery at worst.
Agave nectar is cactus juice. Cane sugar comes from the sugarcane, or from beets. If you've ever actually _eaten_ a piece of sugar cane, you'd know that there's very little difference between a teaspoon of pure white crystallized sugar, and scraping your teeth down a couple inches of sugar cane. Except, the cane is moist. That's pretty much the only difference.
Personally I'd rather put real actual cane sugar in my coffee than cactus juice. But your body won't know the difference between sugars. Once it hits the digestive process, it will say to itself, "Self? This here is some kind of sugar. Let's process it how we process sugar. Since, that's what it is. Ready? Set? GO!"
That is -exactly- what the body says to itself, when you ingest ANY kind of sugar. I've seen the script. I know what I'm talking about.
If you went Drover's route you wouldn't care about your burns, bites and rashes.
