Cornish Pasties and Banbury Cakes - they're more like filled-pies.

I grew up on mince meat pies made from homemade mince meat made with either ground or finely chopped beef and a bit of suet thrown in for taste. If you would eat the old time version, I doubt that you would be able to taste the meat as an individual ingredient.

People have an aversion to mince meat but it really is a wonderful tasting pie.
I found real mincemeat--in a British shop in Freeport Maine!!!! We tired making it from scratch last year but it didn't work too well. The stuff you buy in the grocery store is horrible but this Christmas we will have a real MINCE PIC.

From the UK? What brand and what are the ingredients? I've never found authentic mincemeat in a jar. The closest I've found is the type with suet but no actual meat.

BTW - you can order a Mincemeat Pie from Red Truck Bakery delivered (theirs has suet).
