I cannot stand the thought of eating licorice. Now, I find out, after 32 years of marriage that DH actually likes it. How we missed this, I don't know.
Do you like it?
Do you think we are genetically primed to like it or not like it, same as cruciferous vegetables? Why do I love him?

I don't really care for the black. The red isn't bad. Can't answer that last question...

Just for the record, we both love cruciferous vegetables.

Black licorice --- NO.
Yet I like Good-N-Plenty. I guess the candy coating softens the "bite".
And Fresh fennel ---Yes, Fennel Seeds (like in rye bread & italian sausage) --- Yes.
Liquors that have the taste of licorice --- NO!

Red Licorice --- Yes.

Black licorice in small quantities - Yep.
Good & Plenty? Yep
Fennel? Depends
Ouzo and the like? Nope'

Red licorice? Never; don't even open a package of it near me - I find the smell nauseating.

Nyquil- nope
Fennel-yep
Red licorice-yep
Black Jelly Beans-yep
Black licorice-no, as my Great Grand Pappy used to ask "do you want a peppermint, or do you need black licorice?" (Black licorice is a stool softener).

I think your marriage can survive this speed bump. I have had a rule though to never kiss anyone with a black or blue tongue.
