I put a heaping cup of sugar in a gallon of tea. I use a cold brew now. I've always boiled it but Cold brews are very good. We have a store brand that's stronger than Lipton's so it's what I prefer. While I love lemons in almost everything I don't use them in my tea. I just prefer my tea without lemon. I'm not getting much other sweets so not too concerned about sweet tea.
As some have mentioned, I think unsweetened iced tea is just plain gross. I prefer my iced tea nice and sweet, thank you very much. I try to watch how often I drink it, because as much as I love sweet iced tea, less is better in my case.
I LOVE and only drink unsweetened iced tea. Heard a lot of southern folks talking about their "sweet tea" and looked up the recipie and was like "OMG!!!!" at the sugar content. No way would I drink that stuff.
I drink my tea unsweetened as well as my coffee because I'm a Diabetic. You wouldn't believe how many people I find drink unsweetened tea in Tennessee.
I rarely drink tea, hot or iced. But when I do, I much prefer honey over sugar. If I were to order iced tea in a restaurant, I'd order it unsweetened, and ask for honey on the side. And a lemon wedge to squeeze in it too.
