The cost of a single .22LR bullet.

The last flock of wild turkeys I saw (last Tuesday) had a 24 head count - all biiiig birds. I know where they roost at night... so, early Saturday morning...

Is it still called "hunting" if you already know where they are, and they travel in a neat and orderly line?

Wow. I bet they are very delicious, and I'd love to try one. Maybe when the kids leave and take their friends with them.

Anyway: yesterday at Safeway in Gallup, NM the Safeway brand was .59cents/lb with a card and a $25.00 purchase.

Walmart's "brand" which is not bad was .74 cents/lb.

What are "you" seeing out there re prices.

Oh, and a goose was about $57.00 EACH-that's enought to get your goose cooked

Have a nice day folks.

Mostly about 79 to 89 a lb. One store has a free one if you buy $100 worth of groceries or more, but it is limited to a 12 lb turkey. We are lucky, we got ours at a 1 day sale in Aug. It was at Aldis and we got a Butterball, 20 lb one for .49 lb.

Last year I made a second turkey the day after Thanksgiving so we'd have plenty of leftovers, but I might do what Wlson513 does this year and roast one on Wednesday. That way I can make the gravy beforehand.

Turkey prices in my area (Butterball, Jennie-O, generic only--I don't have the budget for the more gourmet stuff, as much as I'd like to):

Aldi: $1.09 per lb
Jewel: Not listed in this week's ads, but probably around Dominicks' prices
Dominicks: $1.19 to $1.59
Target: $1.09 - $1.29ish
Meijer: Also not listed, but probably around Target/Aldi prices
Angelo Ca****: Not listed, except for a free 14- to 18-lb turkey with the purchase of a ribeye roast ($4.99/lb)
and those free or only a few cents a lb specials were not that many years ago.

We moved here three years ago from California, and I remember getting free ones back there. Free with $25 purchase, or maybe $50. Certainly not the $150 I had to buy to get one here! And that's the only free one I've gotten in this area.

.59 cents per pound at Publix, and I don't particularly want their turkey.

As of yesterday(11-15-2011):
Newest ads from KROGER & ALBERTSON"S

Kroger: 49 cents @ lb. Jennie-O brand, with $20.00 additional purchase.
Went in today and they have 0 on hand. This ad is in it's third week of running.

Albertson's: coupon for Honeysuckle White @ 39 cents LB. with $20.00
additional purchase.

Have to wait for the weekend before I can get our turkey. No room in fridge or freezer. Hopefully I'll be able to find a turkey at the store by
then. Otherwise, it'll be PB&J sandwiches for Turkey Day
