I have to give Five Guys credit. Their are several locations in the areas where I work, and we occasionally order large fries to go. Every time I have ordered a large fry, the employee asks me if I am aware that their large fries serve 3 to 4 people.

Hmmm....I think I would be offended if someone said that to me. I'd probably say "Do I LOOK like I could eat this entire pile by myself????"
Ah and therin lies the problem. People order this stuff and do NOT share it, and do NOT take part home. Shame on the restaurants for pushing this crap, serving wayyyyy to much in one sitting (whether or not the menu says 'for 2' or whatever) and not being responsible business owners.
yes!!! shame on them for giving large portions!
