The regular version is loaded with sugar, but the vitamin content surely beat soft drinks. Pure 100% real cranberry juice ( most apple juices come from China) is a better choice for your husband.
V8 Fusion Nutrition Information | LIVESTRONG.COM
However avoid all the "light" versions of V-8 Fusion. Although you're getting less calories, you're also getting less juice and less nutrition-and WAY MORE artificial sweeteners.
It is going to substitute a good apple, a bunch of grapes, slice of watermelon, a pear , plum or other fresh fruit? No!
Juices are “reconstituted”, a process where water is removed and then added back in. It’s unclear whether any of the phytonutrients or natural enzymes are lost in this process. V8 also contains “natural flavors” which some people claim includes MSG.

Would you tell us what kind of V8Fusion you bought?

When I look at random ingredient labels I see some strange stuff there:
V8 Fusion: Peach Mango Fruit Juice

Ingredients (19):

Vegetable(s) Juice Blend Reconstituted (Water, Potato(es) Sweet Juice Concentrate, Tomato(es) Yellow Juice Concentrate, Carrot(s) Yellow Juice Concentrate, Carrot(s) Juice Concentrate) , Fruit Juice Blend Reconstituted (Water, Grape(s) Juice White Concentrate, Orange(s) Juice Concentrate, Peach(s) Juice Concentrate) , Mango Puree Concentrate, Flavoring Natural, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) , Citric Acid, Beta Carotene, Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol (Tocopheryl) Acetate)

Although this is 100% juice - its not 100% peach/mango juice. First are listed juices of cheap stuff like potato, tomato, carrots, grapes, and oranges. Then the last two are peaches and mango, so you have an idea how much of those you get.
Then they list vitamins that are ADDED.

Lets look at another one: V8 V Fusion Pomegranate Blueberry Fruit Juice Blend

Ingredients (18):

Vegetable(s) Juice Blend Reconstituted (Water, Potato(es) Sweet Juice Concentrate, Carrot(s) Purple Juice Concentrate, Tomato(es) Juice Concentrated, Carrot(s) Juice Concentrate) , Fruit Juice Blend Reconstituted (Water, Apple(s) Juice Concentrated, Grape(s) Juice White Concentrate, Pomegranate Juice Concentrate, Blueberry(ies) Juice from Concentrate) , Flavoring Natural, Malic Acid, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) , Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol (Tocopheryl) Acetate)

Again... same cheap stuff as the main ingredients and then at the end of the list some trace of pomegranate and blueberry, just enough to make it on the list.

If you want to get a bottled cranberry juice, looks like a Lakewood Cranberry Juice Blend, Mountain Sun Pure Unsweetened Cranberry Juice, NSI 100% Pure Cranberry Juice Concentrate, Ocean Spray Craisins Dried Cranberries, Pomegranate Juice INfused, and R.W. Knudsen Cranberry Concentrate Juice are pretty good choices.
Apple juice: Lakewood Organic Pure Apple Juice, Beech-Nut Naturals 100% Apple Cherry Juice, Martinelli's 100% Pure Apple Juice, Denny's Regular Size Apple Juice (ha!), President's Choice Organics Unsweetened Apple Juice from Concentrate, McDonald's Minute Maid ® Apple Juice Box , Panera Breads Organic Apple Juice, and White Castle Minute Maid Apple Juice Box are the best choices.

Is the "Light" version any better?

V8 V Fusion Light Strawberry Banana Fruit Juice (46 fl oz.)

Ingredients (21):

Vegetable(s) Juice Blend Reconstituted (Water, Potato(es) Sweet Juice Concentrate, Carrot(s) Juice Concentrate, Tomato(es) Juice Concentrated, Beet(s) Juice Concentrate) , Fruit Juice Blend Reconstituted (Water, Apple(s) Juice Concentrate, Orange(s) Juice Concentrate, Strawberry(ies) Juice Concentrate, Banana(s) Juice Clarified Concentrate) , Flavoring Natural, Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid, Banana(s) Puree (Banana(s), Ascorbic Acid color(s)) , Sucralose, Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol (Tocopheryl) Acetate)

Same again, with the strawberry juice and banana juice clarified ( I always wonder how much of clarified juice you get from bananas ) at the end of the list.
And how much of real juice is there? 50% ?
