Pizza size varies from pizzeria to pizzeria, but the median size is 14"
Pizza usually is cut in 8 pieces. Plain cheese pizza slice with normal crust has about 300 cal and 550 mg salt
now make it x 8 and you get 2,400 cal and 4,400 mg salt.
No, its not normal to eat whole cheese pizza in one sitting, but many people do. They will drink diet coke with it.
Go figure...
Like you see, it depends on your size, age and lifestyle. Try to eat less and wait about 15-2o minutes. Most of the time you would not want to eat the rest ( even if is still fresh, steamy hot and smells delicious!)

Adding to elnina's comment: There are 21 mg of cholesterol per pizza slice. 21 x 8= 168 mg in a regular size plain cheese pizza.
The American Heart Association recommends 3,000 mg of sodium and 300 mg of cholesterol maximum per day.
Too much salt causes high blood pressure. High cholesterol leads to heart disease.
I almost lost my spouse to a heart attack (he flatlined five times in 45 minutes) six years ago. Up until two years before the heart attack, he was an avid mountain biker, a very good skier, a good swimmer, and a decent body surfer. He was (still is) trim and fit. His only sin back then: bacon and egg breakfast at Denny's. His cardiologists believed that was the cause of the blockages.
Excess sodium and cholesterol: it's not worth your life. But then again, mortality is not in the vocabulary of the young.

Sorry, but I had to say something... because I'm a diet-only drinker myself, mostly because it's all I've ever had (my mother wouldn't buy us sugared sodas growing up). So to me a regular Coke/Pepsi just tastes NASTY. Thus, I will have diet soda with pizza - or with McDonald's, cheesecake, spaghetti, salad, broccoli, or whatever else I happen to be eating at the time. Not to say I eat junk food regularly, but if I do it's always paired with a diet soda!
That being said, I think "normal" quantities of pizza depends on who you're asking. I can barely finish a small (cheese) pizza myself, but my 30yo brother could easily devour a large by himself... and he's always been skinny, whereas I have to fight daily just to stay at an average-ish weight. Life ain't fair sometimes, ya know?
P.S. I'm a 35 year-old woman, if that makes a difference... and now I'm craving Round Table, LOL.
