Love cookies--all types, but like Toll House probably the best. I like Snickerdoodles a lot, Oatmeal Raisin, Hermits and Peanut Butter too. There probably isn't a cooky invented that I don't like or won't taste.
Probably Sugar Cookies for the holidays are my favorite. And, maybe Nut Cups and Jam Thumbprints too.
I bake cookies throughout the year, the common run of the mill stuff.
Choc. chip, peanut butter, oatmeal, combinations of the three.
Christmas time I do things like coconut macaroons, cherry coconut macaroons, viennese crescents, chocolate chunk shortbread, chocolate snowballs, envelopes of fudge.
Just a variety of things. By only baking them around christmas it makes them more special.
When my daughter was young, we would bake cookies together...Now it's just me doing the baking so I don't go as crazy with the # of varieties as I once did...
I also bake a lot of quick breads...I have an order for 66 breads(three different varieties) to fill for the 16th...I'll be busy with that next week...
I dont bake all that much, but when I do I love Gingerbread people. I love the smell of Ginger and Molasses baking. To tell the truth I seem to be more of a candy person like fudge, divinity, mints I cant resist making candy.

njsocks: Chocolate snowballs are a shortbread type cookie with mini chocolate chips mixed in the dough. They're shaped into a ball and baked. Once cooled they are dusted with powdered sugar to look like a snowball, usually no bigger than a tablespoon of dough. There's no coconut in them ... good stuff!!!
My favorite cookies of all time are those sugar or peanut-buttery ones with the Hershey kiss right in the center. My Secret Santa at work made me a whole batch of them, I took them home and put 5 in the microwave and UGH they are good. The Secret Santa person put some green and red crystals on top too so ... holy moly. I am not sure what they are called, but whether they are Christmas cookies or not, I LOVE them.
I haven't made cookies yet, but the ones I most want to try making are spicy gingerbread from Allrecipes.com. My DH found me a great set of 5 pointed-star cookie cutters yesterday so they need to be initiated.
