actually I have heard they are very good, no, I haven't eaten one either and doubt I will. If you do try one make sure you use qualtiy bread. I can't imagine anyone using plain white bread for anything. Maybe it is the way I was raised, but we like quality bread, no matter what we are eating.

I am typically of the same opinion (about white bread), but I've found that it does have it's place. The key is that it belongs in places where bread is nothing more than a vehicle to get the rest of the sammich into your mouth. Two examples I can think of where white bread is preferable (to me):
1. Tomato sandwich, made with a fresh picked tomato, from the garden, Dukes Mayo (about the only thing I put Mayo on anymore) and salt and pepper.
2. Bratworst. I used to prefer a good hard roll, but then realized that if the brats are good, a cheap0 "wonderbread" hot dog bun is minimalist, and let's the sausage take center stage (along with the spicy brown mustard, and the kraut or the grilled fresh peppers and onions, of course....)

As to the original topic, No I have not tried it, but I probably would. Ironically, I'd likely put it on some rustic wheat bread, or some Ciabatta
Yep, it's ok. Best with bread and butter or half sours instead of sweet pickle. Important that it isn't a watery pickle. Although I do appreciate quality bread this actually is a sandwich best served on basic grocery store sliced bread - white or wheat, toasted or not, your choice.
Somebody at work today had a peanut butter and lettuce sandwich. I thought that was weird. Somebody else says to him "Hunh. I've never had lettuce on my peanut butter sandwich, but I like a tomato on it."
I work with some weird people....
I think some people are naturally more experimental with food, which is okay. But (for me) sometimes just the idea of something unusual is enough to keep me away. I don't even want to know if I would like it or not. It's not worth it.
Hmmmmm....never gave it much thought, I suppose a PB and sweet pickle would make a reasonable dessert, while a PB and dill would make an entree..........
