My favorite chocolates are Leonidas from Belgium. Since my former employer had an office in Bruges, we used to receive those three or four times a year.

I also like the Ghiradelli chocolates. I like the fact that you can buy the small squares at Cost Plus World Market.

Yes, love the "good stuff". But today, my daughter and I split a "Reese's dark PB cup" and that was really good. From Dollar Tree, it was only .50.

Oh, Reeses, that was my boyhood favorite after we stopped getting chocolates from Switzerland. I still like them a lot.

There's an economical kind of Belgian chocolate that used to be sold at Trader Joes, I dunno if they are now. Big blocks twice the size of the biggest Hershey bar, called Pound Plus (they weigh half a kilogram). They're actually cheaper per gram than Hershey, but seem to be of a better quality.

You'll be happy to know that Trader Joe's still sells those large Pound Plus chocolate bars imported from Belgium. I agree that they're better quality than Hershey, smoother tasting for sure. As a matter of fact, I just bought one recently and I'm slowly working my way through it.

I buy the semi-sweet baking chocoalate in the 8-oz packages, and eat a half a square 2 or 3 times a week.

I've tried many types, and I can't always remember the brands...the best were the European ones, and some made by chocolatiers.

Lindt is good but has a weird oily texture. Hershey's also has a distinct but weird taste I'm not a fan of. Cadbury and Nestle are pretty bad, with the latter being better by a bit.

Of the American chocolates, I was impressed with Ghirardelli. On par with many European brands imo.
