Chinese food in China is not close to what is here. In China I ate rice, duck eggs, tofu, nothing "slimy". Delicious sweet buns, often filled with bean paste, or fruit/meat filling. Lots of soups with noodles, veggies.

I guess maybe the question is if whether or not there is "dry" cuisine in Asia, not if Asian people ate "dry" food.

Yeah familiar with Asian foods myself it is kind of an embarrassing oversight, I wasn't really thinking of deep-fried foods (as they are oily), or of course the dried snacks (sotong - or dried cuttlefish). But it still seems the main courses of most Asian cuisines do tend not to feature as much dry food, but then again apart from bread not a lot of food does. It seems Turkish cuisine would be among the 'driest.'
