What restaurants in your city / area serve ethnic food from unusual countries?

There aren't any odd ethnic eateries here in Duluth, but there are plenty in the Twin Cities metro area, a little over two hours away from me.

One is Babani's, a Kurdish restaurant, apparently (once?) the only in the country.

Just recently opened is Goda Cafe, which serves "Afro.Djib." cuisine. The "Djib." refers to Djibouti.

Goda Cafe now open to serve you goat (and American food too) - Minneapolis Restaurants and Dining - The Hot Dish

Minneapolis has a decent-sized Tibetan population, which has contributed several locales that serve Tibetan cuisine. One is Gangchen Bar and Restaurant. Although much of its menu consists of standard Asian fare (ranging from pad thai to pho to classic Chinese favorites), it also offers momos, gyathuk, tenthuk, and shapta.

Minneapolis formerly had a restaurant offering Guyanese food, which has been closed for about three or four years.

Default Unique ethnic restaurants

On State St in Madison there are Nepali, Ethiopian, Afgani and Tibetian restaurants. I guess that's fairly unique

Living in Chicago, we have the opportunity to eat a wide variety of ethnic foods. Not just samplings from around the world, but sub-divisions within country cuisines. For example: we have what's probably the widest variety of Mexican food styles. Another is not just "Persian" style cooking but a restaurant serving food from northern Iran. Lots of other variety. We have it good.

Not your run of the mill Mexican place, they serve only goat and sheep in various forms.

Here in Savannah, we have a very popular carry out place called Zunzi's. They describe themself as a mixure of cuisines: Swiss, Italian, Soth African and Dutch.
I haven't eaten there, but folks are always lined up at mealtime.

When I lived there one Mexican restaurant specialized in boiled goat meat. They boiled whole goats in huge barrels. I never went there of course but heard about it, and it was featured in the food section of The Trib once.

Once, on Oprah, they said that goat was the most widely consumed meat on the planet. I found it hard to believe, but you know that Oprah wouldn't lie to you.
