Like most I love to grill but wonder why on earth people keep buying charcoal briquettes?
Get yourself some hardwood charcoal from home depot or similar, much better choice.

Also people please throw away those bottles of starter fluid, not needed.

^^^Quite right.

We have the Weber one-touch but use the chimney most of the time.

Never starter fluid... *** for taste.

I agree with everything in your post, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what this has to do with BBQ. (Grilling is not "BBQ")

This concludes my public service announcement, please carry on...

There's a charcoal factory in a town near where I live, made from the local hardwood trees in the Ozarks. Makes for some damn good grilling on my little Weber. Bmateo is right, though, grillin' ain't BBQing. And Bmateo should know, since he's from North Carolina. (I'm a fan of Carolina-style BBQ)

I'm from NC and I always refer to cooking on the grill as grilling out. I do, however, use barbeque as a noun, verb and adjective.
I'm going to eat at The Pit for some barbeque. (pulled pork)
I barbequed chickens on the grill last night.
I like barbequed chicken.

We just call it "cooking out" or invite people to a 'cook out!'

Now BBQ is an entirely different definition in NC and SC ... mustard based or tomato based ... I like them both.

My hubby and I like to grill but we really don't know much about technique LOL - so for Father's Day, he's getting a homemade grilling kit: a great book found @ Barnes & Noble and a bunch of grilling accessories. Maybe I'll go to Home Depot and pick up a few more things....this advice comes at a great time lol - thank you!

I sometimes say that too. I love all kinds of barbequed meat but my favorite for pork is vinegar based. And if I can get it pit cooked, I am in heaven.
