so what are your plans for dad's big day or do you do anything?

We are taking dad (hubby) out for dinner tonight cause we have a coupon to our little Mexican restaurant here and they won't honor it on special days. Tomorrow I am doing the grilling. After church I will fix his favorite breakfast: waffles with fresh berries and a big slab of ham. for dinner I will grill the steak, veggies and make his favorite salad, which is a simple romaine salad with parmensan cheese and bacon bits. No fancy dressing, just lemon juice and a dab of olive oil to helf the lemon juice adhere to the lettuce.

Nita

We have had some extreme expenses, so I am barbecuing while he is at church. Bought some nice steaks. Will toast some challah but I haven't completely decided what I will do with it. Twice-roasted potatoes. Broccoli -- he thinks he hasn't had a meal without it. And a tall glass of an icy, fruity drink I will make just before I serve him.

I plan to do some surprise painting that morning while he's gone -- the garage and the frames for some really cool lights he made for it.

Sure hope the weather is nice. Would be nice to eat outside.

My brother is in town with his wife and my nephew and this will be his first father's day. We are actually celebrating it today at my moms with a BBQ, hero, salads ect... and other family members are stopping by. He's flying home tomorrow. My dad is passed on and so are many other male fathers in my family. My husband and I don't have kids. Years ago when both of my grandfather's were alive and my dad, my mom would do a huge get together with tons of food honoring them. We have not done that in 15 years. It should be very nice today.

The kids will be giving him some cards and I'll help them serve him breakfast in bed tomorrow (they'll probably make him pancakes and sausage). Later we'll go fishing, maybe play some ball.

I started another thread like this, but I'll make him a nice breakfast. For dinner, we'll have steak, baked potato, baked onion, peas and gourmet brownies.
I cut half the grass for him today, so that was his present.
