I recently started drinking milk again after giving it up many years ago. I don't like plain milk but love chocolate milk, and this TruMoo is delicious.

It certainly is, but it is also probably full of sugar!

I love chocolate milk from the farm stand. omg, soooo good! But it is so chocolately (and full fat ) you can basically add an equal part of 1% milk and it's still delish! God only knows how much sugar is in that milk.

How much sugar is in the trumoo, before I go off making assumptions?

This is from their website: 'As an everyday drink choice, TruMoo has significantly less added sugars than that of soft drinks and popular fruit juice drinks. Most of the sugar in TruMoo is lactose, the natural sugar found in all milk, while all of the sugars in nutrient-poor sodas are added sugars.'
Discover The Benefits of Chocolate Milk: Post-Workout & More! | TruMoo

The label on the container says that one serving has 22 grams of sugar (that's the same amount as my Great Value orange juice has). They don't use any High Fructose corn syrup. And no artificial growth hormones either. Also, this is low fat milk with only 2.5 grams of fat per serving. Only 1.5 grams of that is saturated fat.

My 1% milk has 12 grams of sugar. Kind of surprised by that!

It's a sorry state of affairs that TruMoo is comparing their dairy product to juice and soda! At least there is no high fructose corn syrup in it.

I love chocolate milk too! But I would def. be more apt to get plain milk and then add Hershey's syrup to it, then you can control the amount of added sugar.

I can't imagine living without milk. Can I ask why you had given it up to start?

That's what I did when I drank milk as a child and in my teens. I would use Hershey's or Bosco chocolate syrup. Or Carnation Instant Breakfast chocolate flavor. Anything but plain milk.

I gave up drinking milk because I felt that I was too dependent on it for my protein and calcium. So I started experimenting with different foods and gradually gave up the milk although I still ate cheese and eventually yogurt.

Well, maybe I'll try the plain skim milk and Hershey's. It is a good idea to keep the sugar intake low. Especially when you're older (I'm 58).

TruMoo is the milk served in my school. Since schools are supposed to be conservative in terms of sugars and calories I would think Tru Moo would be better than most.

I usually try to keep the sugar intake low but it really is in everything now, so I just do what I can to be aware of how much is in what.

Just don't go for the sugar free hersheys! It's got this weird texture, it doesn't actually mix into the milk. you end up with all these little pieces of chocolate floating around.

And when you put it on ice cream, it's not runny like a syrup, it's more like a creamy, saucy texture. It did taste good, though.

This conversation definitely has me wanting the chocolate milk from the farm. I can't wait!

I have never heard of it but will be looking for it. I love chocolate milk, but I want the real thing, usually from the local dairy. Unfortunately, I can drink a quart (which comes in glass bottles, which I love!) all by myself, and I have to stop myself from drinking it in one sitting.

I had my first glass of chocoalte milk in at least a year last week. I wasn't missing much. It was kind of a treat, a little like a milk shake but not somehting I'd want to drink very often.
