At Walmart around here, milk is $4 per gallon.

Bottled srping water is getting pretty expensive too.
Poland Spring was $4 for a six pack of the 1 pint sport bottles.
Only reason this bugs me is because its only water. I have to buy it though, because the county adds to much chlorine in the water supply.

I agree that oxtails are ridiculously expensive. It's hard to believe that they were a popular food during the depression.

They were the cheapest meat back during the depression. And since meat was sold by the carcass back then, every butcher had oxtails to get rid of.

If you think prices are high now, just wait. The drought here in the Midwest this summer is going to have a huge impact on food prices. With no feed to feed them, farmers will have to start selling off their cattle early too. And dairy cattle aren't going to give as much milk with the poor quality hay they're going to get. I've seen farmers harvesting what used to be pasture land or weeds. If the cows eat it at all, they're still not going to produce much milk on it.

Actually - it's possible we'll see better quality chocolate, now that they're IN the part of the world where chocolate is cultivated. Hersheys might have been "made in America" but its primary ingredient was "hecho en Mexico"

My overpriced gripe: tahini. Seven bucks is ridiculous.
