When we buy ice cream now we buy Blue Bell ... a Texas specialty that was only sold in Texas for many years. We tried Blue Bell first in Texas and recently the local Walmart is carrying the brand. It is a full gallon of ice cream and really good.
Oh, and Slashfood (among others) compared Breyers Vanilla to Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla and named Blue Bell the winner, even before Breyers switched to corn syrup as their sweetener.
I will never buy Breyer's again...but then, I have already stopped buying it because of just how much they took advantage of "downsizing".
What WAS two quarts is now one and one half quarts.
Two words for you, Breyer's.....and I'm not allowed to post them here.
Wow, that sucks. I paid more for Breyer's because they didn't have any unnecessary ingredients. I guess I will have to start looking into making it myself because the next level up is too pricey for me.
That's what I'm trying to point out... they can put corn syrup in the product and still call it Natural if the want to. Matter of fact, they can put anything that is considered "food safe" by the FDA in it and call it Natural if they want to, because Natural has absolutely no meaning as far as food labelling goes.
So watch your assumptions if you see "Natural" on a food label. It's just bait for the unwary consumer.
And what I am saying, is that they never did before. Your post is condescending and argumentative.
All of the companies that make ice cream did the downsize from the 1/2 gal (64 oz.) to the 48 oz. It wasn't just Bryers. I will be getting my old hand crank ice cream freezer down from the attic. I may eat less but enjoy in more.

No, it wasn't meant to be, really, just informative.
Breyer's switched to corn syrup at least 2 years ago, according to blog posts at the time.
Yeah, it was about two years ago.
We were also Breyers fans and immediately noticed the change in packaging. We stopped buying it, although I have had it a couple of times since then and honestly, it doesn't taste as good. I'm not one of the anti-corn syrup crusaders, but it doesn't. That also isn't the only new ingredient in some of their flavors.
Anyway, if you are in an area with local farms and farmers markets, just forget about the big brands and buy local. We have some great creameries in Indiana that are making the stuff on their own farms using their own cows.
