It looks like the bear is made of brown rice. The blanket is a fried egg. And the pillow on the side is a folded piece of cheese, which was also used as the ears and nose for the bear.

I agree, the bear is rice. A medium grain rice will work best for something like that, use an ice cream scoop to make the two halves of the head and a tiny scoop (the kind for small cookies) for the ears.

No clue what the black stuff is, but since most food I've seen done like that is Asian, I'd guess maybe a tiny piece of nori.

Ah, yes, nori for the black bits. I was thinking about what it could be and was going to edit my answer if I thought of anything, but you got it!

I think the egg thing is "omurice." Japanese culture has a lot of borrowing from other cultures. I believe it is only a contraction of "omlette" and "rice." I bet the egg is stuffed. You can see an omurice recipe here: Omurice Recipe

I totally love (real) Japanese food. Ppl eat a lot of stews, pork, etc...not only "sushi." If you are interested in seeing a bit more Japanese food and an omurice recipe, you can watch "Cooking w/ Dog." The name is hilarious and it is a little series on youtube.

OMG it is like those fractal posters from my undergraduate years. I totally didn't see it until you wrote the post. Um...hey forget what I wrote about the omurice.

This is a cute food. I would hate to eat it because it looks like a lot of effort went in to making it look so cute. Eggs and rice are good BTW.

I'm sure you're right. I'd say the egg is stuffed with the bear! This looks like kind of a fantabulous rice omelet.
