I have class on the weeknights between 5 and 9 PM. Needless to say I don't have time to prepare a quality dinner and I don't have time to eat dinner while sitting in class, only time for a snack during a 10 minute break. Granola bars only go so far. What are some of your go-to snacks when you're in a situation where you can't have dinner but need something that will fill you up that you can grab quickly and eat on the go?
Cereals=Krave
I know its not much, but after dealing with 3 kids, (homework, feed them, clean them up, put them to bed etc), I don't feel like eating dinner if it is passed 6:30pm...so, I snack on Krave! Not the chocolate ones, those have a weird taste...the other ones.
I used to take a class that lasted from 6 to 10 pm, so I know what you are talking about. I would take various things like crackers and sliced cheese, fruit, peanut butter and crackers, granola bars, yogurt, or nuts, especially almonds.
Also, we always keep those EAS Advantage protein shakes in our pantry. They are great for a quick fix and the protein really helps sustain you. I drink one on my way to work out in the morning, and it really helps. They aren't the most delicious thing I've ever had, but they work and you don't have to refrigerate them. They might taste better if you did, but I never do. My son, who is in law school, keeps a couple of them in his backpack at all times. When he's pulling an all nighter in the library he drinks one instead of leaving to eat, because he says he knows if he leaves, he'll never make it back to the library.
Apples, grapes, a piece of cheese... Almost any easy to eat on the run fruit or veg. My, how my taste buds have changed!
