Any time I get tomato stains in my plastic containers, I wash them and then put them out in the sunlight, after a few hrs. the stains are gone.

If you leave the soup rim in the bowl it will almost certainly stain. Wash it out promptly and probably it will not. If it does stain, do not despair; a drop of bleach in the washing water should do the job.

Well.. uhoh, I microwaved some Hormel chili in my white plastic bowl (sprayed with Pam), and it stained to high heaven! Couldn't get the stains completely out, even using bleach. Then I tried coating the bowl with lemon juice and leaving it in the sun for hours. Voila! Beautiful white plastic again.
