Piccadilly/Morrison's. They're still open in several locations but a lot of them have closed down in the past ten-fifteen years. They have really good food!
Venitos in San Francisco. It was a wonderful italain restaurant near the Wharf, but across the street. We used to feel like kings and queens when we ate there in the late 60s and early 70s. Another one that we loved was Housners in Baltimore. They didn't take reservations so the lines. after about 6pm would be blocks long, but the wait was worth it. The third one, that comes to my mind is Il Porto, in oldtown Alexandria, Va.
Il Porto is still there -- or was January a year ago. I had dinner there.

I was recommending places for friends to eat when the did DC last summer and I could sware Il Porto was out of business. That is good news. How did you like it? We had our son's rehersal party there ages ago. It was the first place we ate at when we moved to Alex in 1981 and i think I kept them in business from then until we left in 1988.
Defunct in San Antonio,TX not sure of the rest of the country: Bonanza. The steaks were not prime, but they were good considering the price. They also has an awesome salad bar.
The diner style Bobs Big Boy. I think there might be couple left somewhere though.
