and that is the way I look at it as well. Any diet can be healthy or unhealthy, depending on how you handle it and how much you eat. Yes, I do think Asian diets are healthy, but they eat so much rice and it isn't particularly healthy. The Med diet is healthy as well. This isn't the first time this subject has come up here and I bet it won't be the last.

I think that Chinese food would be a good way to diet, if you stick to a lot of veggie stir fry and keep the serving of rice down to a reasonable size. Stir fry is the way to make veggies the main part of your diet and not feeling like you are suffering.

Lots of fresh veggies with tiny slivers of meat would be fine for dieting.

Korean food. They have the lowest obesity rate for an industrialized country and unless you head to a AYCE Korean BBQ or a western-Korean style fried chicken restaurants, most of their dishes are vegetable based. In fact, even their traditional desserts (like rice cakes topped with beans or dried persimmons) are nowhere near as sweet or high fat as other countries.

Chinese food cooked at home could be healthy. Chinese food from Americanized restaurants? I think their rule of thumb is to drown the entire dish in MSG, Oil and soy sauce. If you're into steaming, you could make desserts to main meat dishes with very little to no oil added.

As much as I like Thai food, the cuisine always struck me as very heavy because of their liberal use of coconut milk.

One T of butter has around 100 calories. Since my body apparently does not burn more than 30 calories a day (yes, an exaggeration, just seems like it sometimes), I have to be careful with how much butter, cream, high cal food I eat. Moderation for me, when I'm trying to lose weight at least, pretty much translates into "none" sadly .

That said, I agree that there is room for some of the heavier ingredients/foods in the average diet. Everyone needs an occasional splurge . Makes the world go round.

Be careful not to associate malnourished skinny people with health because these people suffer health problems like osteoporosis that shorten their lives.
