I was on another website, ordering my FRS energy drinks, when the site suggested I might be interested in purchasing coconut water (not coconut milk).
Does anyone here drink this on a regular basis? Can you tell a difference if you drink some every day? It looks like athletes and people who are into yoga drink this.
I'm wondering too, if my skin will look more hydrated from drinking it.
Coconut oil. For years, researchers have been advising people to keep saturated fat consumption to a minimum—which would mean avoiding coconut oil, even the virgin kind, which is about 92 percent saturated fat. But the fatty acids in coconut oil are primarily medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are shorter than the long-chain triglycerides found in other fats and oils. MCTs are more easily metabolized by the body, which is why they're found in infant formulas and used to nourish hospital patients, says Monique Ryan, a nutritionist and author of Sports Nutrition for Endurance Athletes.
I've used coconut water in some Thai recipes. The only grocery store I can find it at is this Food Lion that carries a ton of Mexican/ethnic foods. It's very sweet, tastes good!
I've had it from a fresh coconut. It has electrolytes, calcium, potassium and magnesium. I think that if you live in an area where you can get fresh coconut water, it might be a plus. I wouldn't bother buying it canned, bottled, processed. I'm pretty sure that they've killed it at that point.
Ah, the coconut. The brown orb has lined beaches and bonked unsuspecting cartoon characters on the head since the beginning of time. It's been the subject of songs, from the classic "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" to the contemporary, such as Tyga's "Coconut Juice."
What the article doesn't bother to tell you is that you can also find coconut water easily in the Chinese and/or Mexican areas of your store. Goya makes a few versions, with and without coconut bits in them.
I just don't know if I could drink "coconut" water.
