I have heard more than one person make the comment that Coke was sweeter than Pepsi. But I have always thought that Pepsi was sweeter than Coke, and that it was one of the defining differences between the two beverages.

A 12 oz can of Pepsi contains 150 calories.
A 12 oz can of Coke contains 140 calories.

How can anyone say that Coke is sweeter?

Is it just a better recipe that makes it taste better? What do you think?

I think they are both garbage when sweetened with HFCS - give me a Mexican Coke or Pepsi any day and I'll be happy.

A 12oz. can of Coke has 39g of sugar
A 12oz. can of Pepsi has 41g of sugar

So, it's pretty close, although Coke "tastes" a little bit sweeter to me. Almost a honey like accent with Coke. Pepsi, I detect a citrus accent.

Pepsi is sweeter to me, and less carbonated (tastes flat).

Pepsi is sweeter to me, I always prefer Coke, or in my case diet caffiene free Coke.

Pepsi is definitely sweeter than Coke. And Coke definitely tastes better than Pepsi.

I prefer Pepsi, but I can't say one is sweeter than the other. They just have a different taste. Coke has a a little big of a twang - for lack of a better word - at the end of a drink (end of a swallow/not bottom of the cup/can) that I don't particularly care for. I don't hate it, I just like that Pepsi doesn't have it. Not sure anyone will understand what I am talking about!

I once heard that:
Coke uses more oranges in their flavoring.
Pepsi uses more lemons in theirs. (So that citrus is real)

Dunno - I only ever drink Diet Pepsi.

I've always heard that Pepsi had a softer taste, flavored with a hint of vanilla.
Coke was sharper and used lemons.

Who knows??

I am a LONG time Pepsi drinker who is trying to consume less of either product.

The reason?

I really enjoy the taste of Pepsi better than Coke, but let some of it go flat, and then take a drink! It is clear when you do this that you are drinking pure sugar syrup. Without the fizz it is a truly disgusting taste. Putrid comes to mind.

Really, really bad for you. Complete sugar mess. 40 grams of sugar is TEN Teaspoons in EACH can. Would you just eat 10 teaspoons of sugar? Stay away.
