Ahhh skbs, I am not picking on you at all. One day h brought home anchovies that had to opened up with a can opener, my can opener was not deep enough to open that darn can, he had to do it with a hand opener. Now I get the cans that you open on the one side. To me the hardest part about making this delicious dish is opening the can lol.

Happy New Year everyone.

It will be a fresh repeat of yesterday's menu because great looking pork chops were on sale.

So, to refresh all of my food pals memory banks, here it is:

Fried pork chops (seasoned with salt&pep, garlic, and then lightly dusted with flour and cooked to perfection in vegetable oil)
Smashed/creamed red potatoes
Cucumber and onion salad in a perfect blend of oil, vinegar, sugar and seasonings.

Happy New Year!

P.S. Right now I'd kill for some stuffed grape leaves-lol.

I have had the experience of the pull-tab breaking off or the key not working and having to mangle the can with pliers to get at the anchiovies or sardines..... I think they make them better than that now....
but wait....this christmas some can didnt work and required the repeated use of the hand held opener squeezed as tight as possible....(but I think tht was dog food).

Dont get cut......the blood ruins the dish.

All this talk of anchovies, I made myself an emported ham and swiss sand. and pepper, olive and anchovy salad.

Elston: there are certain cans, Swanson Chicken White Breast for one I could not open up at all. My h took the can into the garage and had to hammer and chisel it to get the darn thing open.

H split chicken breast browned beautifully with slices of bacon on top, seasoned Fingerling potatoes, b. sprouts, burgundy onions and mushrooms. He should be home for lunch shortly. Oh yes, and prime rib veg, barley soup.

Anchovy problems solved all-get the anchovy paste in the tube (like the tomatoe paste in the tube.) I use it even when making white clam sauce
