Interesting what is being said about Scallops ( my favourite food in the whole wide world with Crab and Fillet Steak) . I am shocked that anyone would try to pass off Ray and Skate as Scallops....

I always try to buy scallops with the coral still attached - that way it's easy to see how fresh they are - and then they can't be imposters!
Scallops are so delicious when prepared plainly-just like Mooseketeer said. I just season with lemon pepper, dust w/flour and pan saute' quickly-there's nothing better. As a child we scalloped in the Hamptons.
There are several maybes floating around in my head...Maybe pizza, maybe a burger and fries, maybe a fish sandwich, but still not sure of anything...Maybe I'll have a dream instructing me during the afternoon nap...
I agree that covering the delicate sweetness of scallops is a crime! Butter and a dash of salt on gently sauted' scallops is pure heaven!

Last time I had them was with black pudding and caper butter, yummy - a great contrast to the delicate shellfish
I think we are going fishing! DH just finished putting the fishing stuff together! Even if it's just for a couple of hours it will be a nice get-away!! I don't even care if I catch anything it will just be nice to get outside and enjoy the lake today!
Besides I already finished giving the cat her bath and that was the only thing extra I had to do today. She will be busy trying to get rid of that lovely shampoo deoderant smell! Ha!
