I don't eat that either...LOL
Did anyone here have to have a tablespoon of cod liver oil in the morning?????????? I can still taste it and I can see the bottle.
OK somebody can have my share of liver & onions too. CW do you realize you were raised in an abusive home? Cod liver oil was past it's prime when I was a kid I guess we didn't have to endure it. But did endure the stories from grands and parents about them having to take it.

Thoughts? Or should I just stick to the regular way and just skip the gravy?
you could do what my mother did she cooked supper if we didn't like it there was a jar of peanut butter in the cabinet. No other snacking or eating until breakfast. A few of those suppers you learn right quick to eat what is made. Do you know how to make a white or brown gravy from scratch? I definitely wouldn't sub taco flavoring for the brown gravy, I'd leave it out first.

Jaxson LOL you mean when we did what we were told and ate what we had to and the parents ran the household not the kids????? LOL I wouldn't trade my childhood for the world.
I guess we had to have Cod Liver Oil to keep us healthy like a vitamin.
I laugh now because I take fish pills at night and if I don't buy the coated ones it sure tastes like the Cod Liver Oil.

It's funny we lived in a household where a lot of nights dinner was lobster steamers and fish as that was what my Dad caught for dinner. We didn't realize that they had no money.
They owned a gas station and he was great for helping everyone out and extended too much credit to folks, never got paid and lost his business and none of us kids ever knew the difference.
That was in the 1950's.

We had to clean those plates because there were starving children in the world-and the way my mother cooked I doubt they would've wanted it! My brother was made to sit there even if ice formed on his food. Lots of tearful nights-LOL.

Lacey....my mom made us sit until we were finished too, which was awful as a picky kid! Now I always clean my plate - even when I shouldn't.

Update on Jack: pancreatic and liver enzymes are high He is getting an ultrasound done Thursday

I remember the last few years of the Great Depression...Not a good time for picky eaters...Only thing I didn't eat then or now is liver...I don't care if I ever see another dried lima bean I don't really care if it does have ham cooked in it now...I'll gladly eat the ham but pass on the beans. I do still crave the old standby staple fried potato sandwich which I was raised on...I had not trouble cleaning my plate because there was usually not much on it to start with...

I just had an appetizer as dinner is slightly being delayed...kettle corn came to my rescue...

It blows my mind when friend's of my kids come here and look at us like we are from another planet. Half of them have never seen a canning jar let alone food in one. Over half of them their parents don't cook from scratch or they go out to eat most nights. These kids don't know where their food comes from and how it gets on the table.

One night we were having pork chops one boy was chowing down on them so I say "oh I see you like pig" he says "no I don't eat pig" then I asked him where he thought the pork chops came from. BTW he was 17 yo!

My kids have daily chores most of their friends don't even take out the trash.

Our oldest grandson has always been a challenged eater-always had to cook separate for him.

My kids loved everything I put out and I fed most of their friends everynight.

HG-so sorry-hope all's okay? Is BF home now?

Wow are we getting hit with snow-MWBW I apologize in advance. Even interstate is closed.
