Anyway, since I'm electric stove challenged I'll grill outside some Teryaki chicken wings tonight with rice and salad.
I went with a gas cook top range with electric ovens....I had to have a gas line put in as the kitchen was set up for electric range. It was well worth it for me.

Welcome back wktully; hope you love your new house in MO.

Yeah elston...I'm sure it is worth it. But we also have to consider we have propane and the cost of propane is jumping up just like the gas for cars and electric is still fairly reasonable in this area...so we stuck with electric. I will hopefully master it someday. But then I never really mastered gas either! Ha! Tonight is BBQed steaks, baked potatoes with a nice green salad. Got some beautiful Angus New York strip steaks yesterday at Harris Teeter for 1/2 price. Now I'm starting to get hungry for some of those hugh shrimp I saw there. Cooked on my BBQ. Maybe later this week......My daughter and her hubbie and my grandson will be here Friday. She's a great cook and so is her hubbie---yum! Looking forward to some variety here with some new, great ideas!

I still have problems and still prefer gas but guess I'd just better learn the electric stove. Still, outdoor cooking beats them all!! Maybe I over-used the word "still" on this post! Ha!
My biggest problem with the electric stove-top is that I can't seem to get rice to cook right. It's almost always undercooked. If we ate it more often I'd buy a rice cooker, but I only make it about 1x per month or so.

I have no clue how well it works or if it is any good at all but if you have a "Big-Lots" in your area they have these rice cookers made by Emerson for $12.00. I've had the very same problems you have with making rice on an electric range---never turns out! I don't often make rice either but for $12.00 I thought it would be worth a try! We'll see.

My DP spent more than $100 for his Japanese made rice cooker so your 12 cooker is a bargain indeed. His makes wonderful rice! I have to check where to get a replacement insert (the pot) as it was non-stick and that it getting worn.

Not trusting tomatoes! I do have some cherry tomatoes and "they say" they are ok....but they're not that good anyway so out they go into the compost. I will probably wait till the local farmers markets have locally grown crops.

I had some cherry and grape tomatoes this weekend and I am fine!!

Funny about the rice being undercooked on an electric stove. We have electric right now and my rice never turns out right either!

Last night we had spaghetti in a meat sauce along with loads of red onion, green bell pepper, garlic and mushrooms......and some garlic bread with basil and sundried tomato spread. I am not sure about tonight yet. It is hot here too -- don't really feel like cooking!
